Map of States with Smokefree Laws
The American Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation has tracked, collected and analyzed tobacco control ordinances, by-laws, and Board of Health regulations since the early 1980s. This map displays states with smokefree laws, and cities and counties with smokefree ordinances.
Smokefree Minnesota
Minnesota passed the Freedom to Breathe Act of 2007, a comprehensive smoke-free law covering indoor public places and workplaces, including bars and restaurants. The legislation was passed by a bipartisan majority of lawmakers and was signed by Governor Pawlenty on May 16, 2007. The law took effect on October 1, 2007.
Smokefree Illinois
As of January 1, 2008, the Smoke-Free Illinois Act requires that public places and places of employment must be completely smoke-free inside and within 15 feet from entrances, exits, windows that open and ventilation intakes.
Smokefree Nebraska
The Nebraska Clean Indoor Air Act of 2008 requires indoor workplaces in Nebraska to be smoke-free effective June 1, 2009. The purpose of the Act is to protect the public health and welfare by prohibiting smoking in public places and places of employment.

Quitline Iowa
Quitline Iowa is a toll-free, statewide smoking cessation telephone counseling hotline. Trained counselors provide callers with information about the health consequences of tobacco use, assistance in making an individualized quit plan, and on-going support through optional follow-up calls.

IDPH-Division of Tobacco Use Prevention & Control
The mission of the Division of Tobacco Use Prevention and Control is to establish a comprehensive partnership among state government, local communities, and the people of Iowa to foster a social and legal climate in which tobacco use becomes undesirable and unacceptable.
Just Eliminate Lies (JEL)
JEL provides peer-to-peer education to youth across the state, promotes leadership at the local level, and implements events and activities across the state to engage youth in the fight against tobacco. The goals of JEL are to change the general social attitude towards tobacco use, raise awareness through education, create effective counter-marketing, protect the rights of all Iowans from secondhand smoke, and support cessation among the young tobacco user so they quit and encourage youth to never begin using tobacco.
